About Moreton City Excelsior FC
Moreton City Excelsior Football Club competes in a number of leagues within the football community from recreational through to the Queensland National Premier League. The club proudly emerged as the dynamic fusion of two established clubs, Albany Creek Excelsior and Moreton Bay United, uniting their rich footballing legacies to create a vibrant and inclusive community dedicated to the beautiful game. Established in 1963, Albany Creek Excelsior (ACE) became a cornerstone of football in Albany Creek, known for their inclusive atmosphere and passionate community. ACE’s grassroots approach nurtured skilled players and a strong sense of sportsmanship among members. Founded in 2012, Moreton Bay United (MBU) swiftly became a respected name in North Brisbane football, celebrated for their commitment to talent development and community engagement. With numerous championships, MBU stood as a symbol of excellence, instilling a love for the sport among youth players and emphasizing teamwork. In 2023, these two clubs united to form Moreton City Excelsior FC. This merger was not just a blending of talents but a fusion of legacies, honoring the origins of MBU and ACE. Today, Moreton City Excelsior FC stands as a testament to the enduring values of talent development, community engagement, and sportsmanship, carrying the rich heritage of both clubs forward into a new era of football excellence. In 2024, Moreton City gained national exposure by progressing to the FFA Cup Quarter-Finals where they were knocked out by Melbourne Victory, after defeating A-League side Perth Glory in the round of 16. Following this success, Moreton City Excelsior reached new heights in 2025; crowned as Queensland NPL Champions for the first time. This league title secured the club their place in the inaugural Australian Championship, the second tier of Australian football comprised of the best NPL sides from across the country. Fields and facilities are at the centre of every great football club, and Moreton City has a view that the facilities of the club define the image and level of professionalism of the club. The club are fortunate to call South Pine Sporting Complex in Brendale home, where the junior football squads train and play. A secondary facility for most of the senior games is located at Wolter Park in Albany Creek. These facilities can accommodate up to 1500 players during the season, and 800 during the off-season. Moreton City Excelsior is one of the largest football clubs in Queensland with respect to facilities and number of players. Moreton City Excelsior offers football for all age groups, from Kindy all the way to Masters. The Senior Football program is the heart and soul of our club, offering a dynamic and competitive soccer experience for players of all skill levels and ages. This includes Men’s and Women’s teams playing at the highest level in Queensland, as well as various Metro teams. The Kindy Soccer Program is the largest club run program of its kind in Brisbane. The goal of this program is to introduce 2 to 5 year olds to sport and fitness through a proven, fun-filled and exciting program. The Mini Roos program is a youth soccer initiative welcoming children aged 5 to 12. It provides a fun and developmental football experience. For our Junior Competitive Teams, MCE FC aims to provide an environment where player development is the key motivator for players and coaches. Our Gold Rated academy program is focused on developing players who can adapt technically, tactically and psychologically to any football environment, and who possess standout technical qualities that set them apart from other players. Academy teams at Moreton City Excelsior participate in FQA1 – FQA3 with teams from U9-U18.
