About Acacia Ridge Football Club
Acacia Ridge FC is a community & family club that has been apart of the community for 61 years. We field teams in FQPL3, U23’s, Mens Metro Leagues, Mens Over35’s & O45’s Masters, Miniroos, Juniors and hop to field our first Metro woman’s team at the club for the first time in 30 years. In 1963 Charlie Sorrel founded Acacia Ridge FC and entered two junior teams in the Brisbane Junior Soccer Association. Soon after, the club adopted royal blue and white as its colours, and registered two senior sides in the third division. Within six years of playing in Division 3, the club gained a promotion into the second division. After coming close a few times, the club finally won a promotion to the Premier League in 1982. Unfortunately, the team’s time in the premier league was short lived, and the club was relegated to Division 2 after just two seasons. Acacia Ridge were runners up 4 years in a row before finally winning the league (and a promotion) in 1989 in the XXXX Premier League. From this point on, the club was doing well in most areas. Junior teams were constantly in the top 4, and many junior players were playing for rep teams. The club also had women’s teams, and many of those players played for rep teams too. While many teams in the club were doing well, the senior men’s side were relegated a number of times. Then, in 2004 the men’s senior side were division 4 grand finalists, and the tide seemed to be turning. From this point on, the club mostly stayed in Division 3, until the relegation to Division 4 in what was the club’s lowest point. After the events of 2013, the club decided to get new coaching staff, new players and a fresh start, with 3 men’s teams. The 2014 season got off to a rocky start, waiting on 15 clearances for almost a third of the season. However, despite the tough start, Acacia Ridge gained a promotion. In the end, the top senior side won the premiership and the grand final, in addition to scoring over 100 goals in the season.
